We assembled at Auckland airport before midday to check in our luggage for the flight. There were 13 people in our group. The plane was a Corvair 580.
From Auckland we went to Napier where there was a stop for about 45 mins. From there we flew over to the Island, which is 45 mins ahead of NZ time. We arrived on the island a bit after 5pm their time, and were met by our tour host, Valentine Croon. He drove us in the bus to the Chatham Hotel in Waitangi, where we then had a magnificent dinner.
